I have known Jay Petrek for many years. During the 2 years he served on the School Board I found him to be a caring, sympathetic, understanding, and conscientious trustee. He does his homework. Jay learns about the issues at hand and votes with considerable thought, supporting the best interests of all our students in the District.

Jay Petrek, a former board member, was an excellent board member. He always placed a high priority on meeting the needs of the children, employees and the community. He has remained active in the school district as well as in the community since leaving the board. His knowledge of the district's budget and educational priorities is outstanding. Jay would be an excellent choice to replace one of the 2 former board members not returning.

Over the years, Jay and I have had the opportunity to work together in several volunteer roles, including as board members of the San Marcos High School Parent Club. Jay has distinguished himself as the “go to guy” when something needs to get done and demonstrated that effectively in his previous, too-brief tenure as a school board trustee. Jay is a tireless, hard-working, active and engaged parent who will continue to be an invaluable asset to the San Marcos Unified School District Board of Trustees.
